Prairie Style clothing patterns have gone in and out of style since their origination in the late 1800's. We've seen a resurgence of puff sleeves, peasant tops, and several different prairie styles in the recent years as trends. But to me the practical yet feminine style of the prairie woman is timeless and classic.
Give me a pinafore aprons, calico blouse, and linen skirt any day of the week over whatever happens to be trending. I'd much rather my clothing be modest, feminine, and purposeful than try and keep up with ever changing fashion trends.
Because of my love for prairie style clothing and my love for sewing I had already researched a lot of patterns and fabrics for future personal projects. It isn't affordable for most people to purchase all of their quality linen dresses and skirts. That is why taking up sewing some of your own clothes can be a wonderful way to steward your money and time if you, like me, are passionate about a simple and purposeful wardrobe. Below is my list of linen, homespun, and reproduction calico fabric shops and prairie sewing patterns so that all of you ladies will have the resources to start creating your own prairie girl wardrobe.
I have linked each of the fabric shops, but have not linked any of the patterns as hard copy patterns can sell out online. A simple google or Etsy search of the pattern number should bring up all of the options for sale online for each pattern I have listed.
